GIVE BACK

At Spyce Girlz, we’ve always believed we’re building more than a spice company — we’re building a movement. Spyce Girlz is about making kitchens and communities better places. Yes, we’re here to bring you better-for-you, better-tasting spice blends, but our mission goes deeper than flavour.

Giving back is part of our ethos. Whenever we have extra ingredients/ product, it goes straight to local food charities, because the need in our communities is real — and growing.

Lily also visits local schools to talk about entrepreneurship and show students what’s possible when you start small and dream big. And in the community, we help bring Taco Tuesdays to a day program for adults with developmental disabilities — a simple way to make the week a little brighter and bring people together through food.

Social impact isn’t a side project for us; it’s baked into everything we do.

For us, success means lifting up the people around us. It means showing up, sharing what we have, and proving that a small business can make a big difference. Spyce Girlz isn’t just about seasoning your meals — it’s about seasoning the community with kindness, support, and meaningful change.

food insecurity in ottawa

So many food charities in Ottawa are working around the clock to keep people fed — but a lot of them fly under the radar.
We want to shine a light on the organizations doing real frontline work, especially as the need in our city keeps climbing.

Right now in Ottawa:
1 in 4 households is food insecure — up from 1 in 6 just a few years ago.

Food programs saw over 580,000 visits in 2024 — the highest ever recorded.

37% of food bank users are kids, and 16,000 students rely on school breakfast programs every single day.

Newcomer food bank usage is up 98% since 2019.

You can’t always see hunger, but it’s real — and food is a human right.

We've created a master spreadsheet highlighting local food charities and programs that could use community support —

and places you can turn to if you’re the one needing help. Click here to access it.
